CyanideBlizzard's Nyan Koi! Tv Review

Rated: 7

Nyan Koi! isn't going to win any awards, nor is it going to convert someone over to harem series if they weren't interested before. It has it's own share of fan service scenes, and typical cliche plot lines. Yet, within all of this we're greeted with an interesting concept and characters that develop within the twelve episodes we're given. Nyan Koi! would be what I would describe as a guilty pleasure through and through. It's nothing you'll remember several weeks down the road for it's amazing characters and great plot development, but if it fits the bill it will most likely be a series that you'll end up revisiting at one point or another.

CyanideBlizzard's Parasite Eve Game Review

Rated: 9

There is a reason why Parasite Eve is still regarding as the best game in the series, both in terms of sales as well as by fans. Despite how old it is, it is still an incredibly strong title that has been lovingly crafted and brilliantly executed. While not a flawless gem, it is a shining example of a way to be adventurous in a genre like RPGs and create a crafty, adult title.

It's a title that I always recommend to those that don't mind a games age and want a good Role Playing Game and it isn't difficult to see why. It's a remnant of an era that has come and gone, and is a shining example of pushing boundaries and standards forward. Great characters, an engaging story and wonderful gameplay.

CyanideBlizzard's Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu Tv Review

Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu

Rated: 9

Baka To Test was already a personal favorite of mine, but Season 2 reminded me of the fact that it's not simply about personal tastes, it's also about a series that's handled properly by the studio and by the voice actors that can really take a series beyond the norm. If there was ever a perfect example of how to improve a show, Baka To Test is exactly that. The comedy is funnier, the characters have much more depth and overall it's a significant improvement.

If this is an example of things to come, I can only wait for Baka to Test season 3, if there is one.

CyanideBlizzard's Mayo Chiki Tv Review

Mayo Chiki

Rated: 5

Mayo Chiki was actually one of my genuine surprises for 2011.

I was rather impressed with just how well constructed the series was, despite the fact that it was obviously meant to be a throw-away show just for a specific type of audience. However, it became painfully obvious that the show wouldn't break the chains it was bound in and simply ended up embracing them. While the show isn't terrible by any means, it's not going to get any new fans unless you enjoy anime cliches, a decent amount of fan service and a plot that panders around.

If Mayo Chiki ever ends up with a second season, I can only hope that the creators will take a chance to deviate from the norm a bit more and present us with a surprise, which is what I was hoping for the first season to be.

CyanideBlizzard's To Aru Majutsu no Index Tv Review

To Aru Majutsu no Index

Rated: 9

Toaru Majutsu no Index is one of those shows that completely caught me off guard. I deeply regretted not giving it a full view the first time I watched it. The first season has probably one of the strongest plot progressions I've seen in quite some time. Strong characters, a continually interesting storyline, well done animation and a great soundtrack, it's no wonder I've viewed this show three times. The worst part is I get more addicted to it each time I view it.

If you don't mind lengthy dialogue, some generic story elements here and there, and a bit of fan service here and there, Toaru season 1 will easily fit the bill. It's just such a shame that the second season seems even worse after my re-viewing of Toaru Majutsu no Index season 1.

CyanideBlizzard's Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu Tv Review

Baka to Test to Shoukanjuu

Rated: 8

Baka to Test is a show that swept me off my feet and carried me away. I've seen this show three times now and it's just as funny as it was when I first viewed it. Baka to Test isn't meant to be viewed for a dramatic story, or even for the story itself. It's meant to be viewed for the laughs and for the journey it takes you on, with the story being the side element that keeps you there.

With a second season airing now and an OVA out there, I see no reason not to check out this series if you enjoy a zany comedy series that uses cliche anime elements in a fresh and hysterical way. It's just a shame that more people don't know about it, because this show rocked my world.

CyanideBlizzard's Shikabane Hime Tv Review

Rated: 8

Shikabane Hime is one of those shows that starts off decently enough and only gets better with each episode. While the anime itself is divide into two seasons, you cannot simply watch the first half alone, not with the cliffhanger they leave it on. Strong characters and even stronger character development furthered by strong animation and great voice acting make this truly one heck of an anime series. It's just a shame that the lack of any real ending hurts this show from being much better than what it is.

Shikabane Hime, if you only cut out the silly fan service and actually gave yourself a proper ending, you would be close to a perfect show for those that are fans of supernatural or those that enjoy a wonderfully told action-packed drama.

CyanideBlizzard's Gunsmith Cats Ova Review

Gunsmith Cats

Rated: 9

Gunsmith Cats, your tale is a bit tragic. Your prequel (Riding Bean) was cut off before anymore of it could be made and the only adaptation your work has been given has been a 3 episode OVA. Yet, when all is said and done, it's more than enough. There is some incredible high quality production in this series that is lacking in quantity, and I would take that any day of the week. Your a wonderful action packed show that's funny and smart at the same time. The only problem is you leave us wishing for more, and that may not be so much of a problem to begin with.

CyanideBlizzard's KIBA Tv Review

Rated: 8

I think I love you Kiba, but I wanna know for sure. Well, after the 51 episode rollercoaster ride of a lifetime, I think I do know. I think I really like you a lot Kiba. We've had some great times together and experienced a lot of wonderful journeys too. You taught me a lot about your world and the characters in it. What's more, you taught me about life itself. Sometimes the ending we want may not be the ending that is deserved and the same could be said for you. I'll miss you while your gone. You stayed just long enough to where I felt after all was said and done, I wasn't glad to see you go, but I was glad that it didn't get dragged out longer than it should. You also took me on so many twists and turns.

CyanideBlizzard's To Aru Majutsu no Index Tv Review

To Aru Majutsu no Index

Rated: 6

I really wish I could fully recommend the season season of Toaru as I could the first, but I cannot do so. Perhaps it's because there simply was no change from the original in structure and presentation and my tastes have simply changed, or perhaps it is because that the show just isn't as strong this time around. It's almost as if they decided to structure the show exactly how they did in the first season. To start it off slowly and slowly progress, instead of continuing off the momentum of the first season.

What was once a very refreshing anime series has slowly turned into a by-the-numbers series. There is no doubt that Toaru isn't a bad show, but with this second season I cannot say I'm really look forward to the third.
